The workshop was held at the Solomon Islands Christian Association conference room and was organized by World Vision.

The workshop was mainly aimed at youth groups from the Lord Howe and Fulisango communities.

World Vision employee and workshop facilitator, Mr. Moses Ramo stated that the topics covered throughout the week were: Gender in development, Gender Development, Gender in law and Gender in custom.

He includes that the workshop is to ensure that youth leaders are strengthened in their leadership roles and are responsible, "to involve both men and women to be active as a Nation builder for the Solomon Islands."

Prior to the training, Mr. Ramo stated that most of the participants do not often see the importance of involving young women in decision making however, this workshop has opened a whole new dimension to gender equality.

Culture and tradition plays a vital role to Gender Equality in the Solomon Islands. Such workshops would encourage the importance of involving women in decision making.

Meanwhile, the youths praised and thanks World Vision and the facilitator for giving them an opportunity at this workshop.
