President of the Solomon Islands Volleyball Federation, Morris Maitaki, says that he is very pleased with the inclusion of the volleyball teams to Apia, Samoa.
"We have finalized the teams for both men's and women's indoor and outdoor on the 27th of May the date which the SPG body expected confirmation from all federations through NOCSI. The word from the NOCSI justification committee assures us and others that we are guaranteed travelers", says Maitaki. The teams will be led by Honourable Patrick Vahoe and Morris Maitaki.
Since the fitness tests by the NOCSI instructors, the players have passed the required bib tests. "I'm quite pleased with the players' commitment to training. The men averaged 8.2 and the women's team passed on an average of 7.2 for the indoor teams tests" said Maitaki. "The beach volleyball team was very impressive with both men's and women's bib tests passing the required Oceania standard.
Maitaki stated that Carlrose Gwali and Gabby Diau passed with 9.11 surpassing the Oceania standard of 9.5. "Men's beach volleyball, Sammy Gwali and James Waneasi, also surpassed the 11.5 Oceania level at 11.9", says the President.
Volleyball Confirmed for SPG 2007
Preparations for the men's and women's national volleyball teams takes another positive step after the NOCSI committee confirmed their participation in this year's South Pacific Games.
