Speaking with the UNICEF HIV/AIDS Program Officer, Mr. Steve Maitani said that the retreat was used as an orientation for the new staffs of UNICEF.
"This helps us learn more on what UNICEF is about and what they can do to help the people as a multilateral organization," he added.
Mr. Maitani said that they covered discussions relating to programmes in each country, learning from each others successes and challenges. "Issues covered include HIV/AIDS, child protection and health sanitation," said Maitani.
He added that during the week, they also divided into groups to talk and explore specific policy related issues.
He said that the one week retreat was so helpful not only for the new UNICEF representative, but also for the organization as a whole.
