Ms Bokova is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua and Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade William Haomae shortly after her arrival.
She will also hold talks with Government Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and Commissioners that are charged with UNESCO portfolios.
Today, Ms Bokova will be flown over to visit the Marovo Lagoon, in the Western Province, which is a UNESCO listed World Heritage site. She leaves Honiara this afternoon.
So far, the Solomon Islands has been having high level United Nations visit to the Solomon Islands. In March, Ms. Ligia Elizondo, who is the UNDP Deputy Assistant Administrator and also the Deputy Director of the Regional Bureau for Asia & the Pacific in New York paid a visit to the Solomon Islands.

UNESCO Boss Visits Solomons
The Director General of the United Nation Educational Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Ms Irina Bokova has arrived for a two day visit to Solomon Islands.
The Director General of the United Nation Educational Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Ms Irina Bokova will be in the country until this afternoon.
