Solomon Times understand that the training covers areas such as Food and Beverage, House Keeping, Bar Service, Customer Service and introduction to Tourism and Hospitality.
The Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, Ms. Savita said that the initiative is to improve customer services, upgrade employees' skills and also develop an understanding on how to provide quality service. "The ministry is also planning courses that will be extended to the provinces"
The Director of Tourism, Barney Sivoro said that in line with government's policy, the tourism industry needs to be developed. He said that much still needs to be done to improve the tourism industry, particularly in terms of skills development.
The training was funded by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and will be officially closed today.

In an attempt to increase the capacity of tourism operators in the Provinces a week long training was held at Flamingo, Honiara Hotel by Solomon Host.
