The Temotu Provincial government will this weekend send a team to assess reports of food shortage in parts of the Temotu Province.
Provincial Secretary Freddy Mesa reports from provincial capital, Lata that the provincial administration has received two reports of food shortage from the Reef Islands in Temotu Pele Constituency.
Mr Mesa says the administration has also received another report from Pimba Islands community in East Santa Cruz, Temotu Nende Constituency.
He says the Provincial Disaster committee met yesterday to assess the reports and is expected to send a team this weekend to assess the reports.
Mr Mesa says that according to the Assistant Administration Officer in the Reef Islands, Luke Laeki, the food shortage crises is serious and requires urgent and immediate attention from both the provincial and national government.
