Solomon Islands National Teachers Association, SINTA, is calling on its striking members to resume duty Monday next week following the signing of an Implementation Agreement between the Association and the Government.

The Solomon Islands National Teachers Association, SINTA, executive stated that the agreement is far more concise and government has shown a commitment by allocating extra staff to the Ministry of Education to fast track the process.

SINTA's Industrial Relations Officer, John Lee Hatimoana, stated that a draft Implementation Agreement was presented to some of the teachers in Honiara today who have agreed to it.

He says under the Implementation Agreement, the re-leveling of teachers will take effect Thursday next week to be followed by other payments. Hatimoana said that the ministry of Education has already been given additional staff from the departments of Finance and Provincial government to fast track the payments.

Meanwhile, Mr Hatimoana thanked teachers who have kept their solidarity over the past weeks resulting in the positive action taken by the government. He says when the salary re-leveling comes into effect, teachers will be at par with other public officers.
