With the sitting of Parliament commencing Thursday 5 March 2009, people can expect to see extra patrols and traffic controls during the next fortnight.
Acting Police Commissioner Peter Marshall said the operation was simply "business as usual during regular Parliamentary sittings" and an extension of ongoing Police work around the capital.
"It is important that members of the public can go about their normal business while the RSIPF and RAMSI officers are engaged in keeping peace during sessions of Parliament," Mr. Marshall said.
"There is no cause for alarm and we urge the public to continue to cooperate with Police and refrain from anti-social behaviour."
Interested community members can listen to SIBC broadcasts of the Parliament sittings on radio, during the two-week Parliamentary sessions.
Members of the public, who want clarification on these security issues during the Parliamentary sittings, are advised to call Police at Crime Watch - 999.

Strong Police Presence at Parliament Sitting
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, their counterparts in the RAMSI Participating Police Force and Military personnel will be conducting routine security operations in the central city area for the next two weeks.
