Police went to the Koa Hill area shortly after 8pm last night following a complaint that a large amount of cash had been stolen during a break-in at a local market stall. A police investigation led them to a Koa Hill address but on arrival they were pelted with stones and had to withdraw. The investigation is continuing.

Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Peter Marshall said it was pointless for people to throw stones at police as the suspect will eventually be arrested.

"It is really disturbing to know that the police cannot go about their lawful business without being attacked. All police and indeed citizens should be ably to go about their lawful business. The police are simply doing their job as expected by members of the public. I have been informed that the suspect is known to police and they anticipate he will be dealt with very soon," Deputy Commissioner Marshall said.
