The five in one shot pentavalent vaccine was officially launched in Honiara Friday last week.
Under Secretary for Health Care Dr. Cedric Dalependava said that the vaccine will inevitably save the lives of lots of children.
"This shows that our country is developing after coming a long way to achieve this new vaccine," Dr. Dalependava said.
Echoing similar sentiments, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health, Dr. George Manimu said that the new vaccine will help reduce infant mortality rate in Solomon Islands.
He said that five vaccines given in one dose within the first fourteen weeks of life will help improve child health.
With an additional vaccine for meningitis and pneumonia, this will go a long way in improving children's health especially in a third world country like Solomon Islands, Dr. Manimu added.
He urged parents to ensure their children receive all vaccinations required.
Dr. Manimu acknowledged the technical and financial contributions from donor partners in working on improving the health of the people of Solomon Islands.
