Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare begins his tour of the Western and Choiseul Provinces to investigate damage from this month's deadly tsunami.
Mr Sogavare arrived in Gizo yesterday afternoon.
Today he is visiting the damage caused on Gizo Island and meeting those affected.
Accompanying him will be local parliamentarians, the Provincial Premier and those coordinating the relief and recovery effort.
He will also be meeting with many of the groups who are currently helping in the disaster relief efforts.
