"A lot of our members in the West are going through a very difficult time right now" stated Tony Kagovai, the General Secretary of SICTU. "We want to use this day to assist, it may be small, but it is important"
SICTU organized various sporting activities in Honiara in which proceeds go towards their members in the two affected provinces. "We are also pleased that some of our members in Honiara gave voluntary contributions" Kagovai said.
SICTU raise funds for tsunami victims
While the rest of the World celebrated Labor Day, the Solomon Islands Council of Trade Union used the occasion to raise funds for the victims of the tsunami.
