After an extraordinary meeting held on Friday SICTU has agreed to make an official request to the Governor General. "As the custodian of our Constitution we respectfully call on the Governor General not to swear in Julian Moti" said Tony Kagovai, Secretary General of SICTU.
Kagovai said that SICTU strongly opposes the appointment of Julian Moti as his reputation has already been tarnished. "We are also opposed to the idea of having a foreigner in the position of Attorney General" said Kagovai.
Meanwhile, the Government is adamant that Julian Moti will be the next Attorney General of Solomon Islands. Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has stated earlier that "there is nothing under the sun that can stop Moti from being Attorney General once all legal issues are cleared" Sogavare continues to insist that Mr Moti has not broken any laws of the Solomon Islands. "I can assure all Solomon Islanders that everything is done within our laws" Sogavare said.

The Solomon Islands Council of Trade Union has called on the Governor General not to swear in Julian Moti as Attorney General.
