The 'Service for Peace' is a youth focused organization that mainly supports the on-going activities of the Global Peace Festival, which is an annual program. The organization has been doing minor duties around the city.

Mr. Jerome Bellavance, a 'Service for Peace' representative stated that when they get more support from youths around Honiara, they will look into doing bigger projects.

Mr. Bellavance adds that they are the only youth volunteer group in the Solomon Islands who have been consistently doing service projects for free.

The clean up at the National Referral Hospital is the third time they have provided such services and they might be doing it fortnightly.

"Our chapters throughout the world conduct service projects that are designated as the Global World Youth Service Day. We are looking to; build the capacity of an international network of organizations that promotes youth participation, service, and learning; educate the public, the media, and policy-makers about the year-round contributions of young people as community leaders around the world; mobilize youth and adults to meet the needs of their communities through volunteering; and learn and share effective practices in youth service, youth voice, and civic engagement in the world today," says Mr. Bellavance.
