Commander McDermott was responding to reports that suggested RAMSI personnel had fired shots yesterday.
RAMSI personnel went to Lungga yesterday afternoon to assist the Solomon Islands Police Force in breaking up a crowd that had gathered after a rock-throwing incident.
A rumour that RAMSI officers had fired a warning shot began last night and made its way into an article in the Solomon Star today, which incorrectly reported the details from the incident at Lungga.
Commander of the PPF, Denis McDermott, said he was surprised when he read the article as "I knew no shots had been fired during the entire security operation for parliament" .
"I was shocked to read the article and hear the baseless rumours that a warning shot had been fired yesterday afternoon. I can categorically say that there is no truth to this rumour, [and] there is no substance to it whatsoever," he said.
