The rice farm projects are being coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
National Rice Coordinator, Michael Hou'ota, said the SIG rice project farms and producer's rice fields have survived the havoc created by heavy rain through parts of Guadalcanal Province.
"The rain has actually helped the rice fields to grow very well so it has been a blessing to our farming," he said.
There are a total of 41 rice projects that are well on the way and some are currently being harvested.
The Ngalibiu and Sape rice projects were harvested yesterday.
Mr. Hou'ota said the rice fields are now in their growing session and farmers are called on to concentrate more on their planting.
Rice Farms Not Affected
Recent heavy rains and flooding experienced throughout the country has done no damage to rice farming fields.
