The government has been urged to consider resettlement of people on low lying islands on Simbo Island.

Chairman of Simbo Disaster Committee Reverend Gideon Tuke raised the issue with Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare yesterday when he visited two devastated villages, Riguru and Tapurai.

Rev. Tuke said that although the earthquake and tsunami has passed people in Simbo are now, more then ever, highly conscious of the volcano. "Should it erupt the low lying Islands are in grave danger" Rev. Tuke said.

Prime Minister Sogavare assured the people of Simbo that the government will seriously look into the issue of relocation.

"In fact, as early as next month, the government will have a meeting with our major donor partners, this issue will certainly be raised" Mr. Sogavare said.
