Reconciliation Held in Fiji Over Stabbing Incident
A reconciliation ceremony between Solomon Islands students at the University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji, and families of a Fijian involved in a stabbing incident on 10th March has averted ill feelings between the parties on Sunday 14th April.

A statement from the Solomon Islands High Commission in Suva yesterday said the ceremony was organized by the USP Solomon Islands Students Association (SISA) and was facilitated by the Solomon Islands High Commission.
Two Solomon Islands students were involved in an argument with a group of Fijians on March 10th which resulted in the wounding of a Fijian and the arrest of the two students.
The reconciliation ceremony was conducted in both the Itaukei and Solomon Islands traditions.
It involved the presentation of a Tabua (Whale tooth) and a Tafuliae (shell money) by the student’s representative to the Fijian and his extended family as a sign of remorse for the wounding incident.
The reconciliation also paved the way for Solomon Islands students residing in Suva to move around freely without fear of retaliation.
