Public Service Looking to Maintain Current Rental Arrangements
The Ministry of Public Service says it may consider maintaining current rental arrangements for government employees with a Cabinet paper being prepared for this.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Service, Nego Sisiolo said his Ministry will do a joint submission to Cabinet to continue with the existing Public Service Rental Scheme (PSRS).
Government had initially passed a new policy last year where rental money was to be deposited directly into the bank accounts of public servants, instead of that of their landlords.
The policy thinking behind the arrangement was that some of the requirements for one to rent homes in Honiara was cumbersome, and with rental prices soaring there was a need for some flexibility on where one can rent.
Sisiolo says that as many as 3800 Solomon Islands public servants will continue to rely on the existing Public Service Rental Scheme (PSRS) going forward.
