Mr Kunu, in his letter to the Speaker of the Central Provincial assembly, cited political, health and family reasons as basis for his resignation.
Mr Kunu was elected premier on February 17th 2007, and his resignation was effective on Tuesday June 5th.
He said his decision was made in the interest of the current executive and the province at large.
Mr Kunu said he will remain a supporter of the current government if it maintains office.
Premier of Central Province Resigns
Reports from the SIBC has stated that the Premier of Central Islands province, Charles Kunu, has resigned after being in office for just over three months.
