According to witnesses, the cab driver ran into the parking vehicle belonging to the Honiara Beautification Committee.
Witnesses believe that the driver of the cab was drunk and was sleeping while driving.
They estimated that the car was running on a speed of approximately 80 to 90 kilometers per hour, and that the car was driven straight into the parking vehicle.
In an interview with Solomon Times, Police Traffic officers said that two passengers in the cab were police officers.
They reported that the two officers were both seriously injured, one said to be on a concussion condition.
Both officers are reported to be at the National Referral hospital for medical observation.
One of the witnesses said that the driver of the cab was believed to have escaped the scene straight after the accident.
The traffic officers said the accident is the fifth this month, and investigation will take place.
