Speaking during a press conference late yesterday afternoon Mr Kola says police will launch an increased number of patrols by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, RAMSI's Participating Police Force and a Combined Task force.

The Police boss warns members of the public to stay away from involving in criminal activity or disorder during the pending no confidence motion as there will be serious consequences.

He says what happened last Wednesday, which resulted in the arrest of twenty two youths, was a sad and regretful situation but warns that this Friday's operation will be much tougher.

Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo was one of five candidates to contest the top post just a week ago. Mr Lilo won with a comfortable majority, having the backing of 29 out of the 49 MPs.

He fills the post vacated by Danny Philip's sudden resignation last week. Earlier Mr Darcy Lilo was sacked from Cabinet by Mr Philip.

Although there has been high security around Honiara it has been relatively calm so far.
