The deceased was found floating in the Lungga river Thursday afternoon [last week] by his mother.
The mother noticed her child missing around 1pm while doing her laundry, prompting her search for the little boy.
It wasn't a long search when the mother saw the deceased floating some 100 meters down in the Lungga River.
The little boy was retrieved from the river and immediately applied first aid contact, but there was little that could be done to save him.
The deceased was taken to the National Referral Hospital and was later pronounced dead after medical examinations.
Police say the likely cause of death may be drowning.
