Papua New Guinea High Commissioner to Solomon Islands Aiwa Olmi is being recalled to
NBC reports that Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare, has issued specific directions for the immediate recall of Mr. Olmi.
Mr. Olmi sneaked quietly into Port Moresby last week under Sir Michael's instructions following reports that he was involved in a sex scandal and offered monetary payment to subdue the matter.
NBC reports PNG Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister, Sam Abal has confirmed in a statement that the recall has now been formalized stating also that "the situation has caused deep embarrassment for Papua New Guinea."
Mr Olmi is the third PNG High Commission senior official to be recalled from Honiara in less than one year.
Last month, another male staff at the High Commission in Honiara was recalled after a traffic offence.
Towards the end of last year, former High Commissioner, Parai Tamei was also recalled because of alleged sexual offences.
Attempts by SIBC News to get comments from the Mr Olmi were unsuccessful.
