This followed yesterday's defeat of its accompanying bill, the Constitution Political Party Amendment Bill 2009 at the second reading vote.
Prime Minister Sikua withdrew the Political Parties Registration and Administration Bill in pursuant to parliamentary standing order 59 before it was put down for second reading debate in Parliament today.
He said the bill is now untenable and inconsistent with the constitution following defeat of its accompanying constitution amendment bill yesterday.
Dr Sikua said he is forced to withdraw the bill, but urged future governments to consider the good intentions of the bill in their time.
Speaker of Parliament Sir Peter Kenilorea then ruled the bill has been withdrawn and no further proceedings will be taken on it.
