Speaking during the hand over, TRC Chairman Father Sam Ata, described it is as an "auspicious moment in the history of Solomon Islands."

Father Ata says the report, handed over to the Prime Minister, has the whole-hearted endorsement of the five commissioners and has created a new respect for human rights during their work.

Speaking on the report's contents, the TRC Chairman says the report contains stories of Solomon Islanders who sought to establish their humanity and dignity.

He says the report also seeks to give a clear picture of the gross human rights violation of the past ethnic tension.

The hand-over ceremony was conducted at the Cabinet office yesterday afternoon and was attended by Cabinet Ministers, heads of donor agencies, church and community representatives and TRC Commissioners.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report contains five volumes.

Meanwhile, upon receiving the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's report, Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo announced it will be submitted to Cabinet for further deliberations.

Prime Minister Lilo described the report as an important outcome of the TRC's work and said Cabinet will be given the opportunity to deliberate on its contents.
