The meeting is to be held from the 23rd to 25th June 2010.
The Government Communications Unit says that the government's delegation to the meeting will include Foreign Affairs Minister, William Haomae and Minister for Development Planning and Aid Coordination, Steve Abana.
UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan had invited foreign ministers and/or representatives of more than 30 Arab and Pacific states to the summit.
According to a source at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will discuss aspects of cooperation between the League of Arab States and the Pacific island states as well as efforts to lobby support for Arab causes in international circles.
The source said the meeting is the "culmination of efforts being made by the United Arab Emirates to facilitate cooperation between Arab countries and the Pacific nations," noting Sheikh Abdulla's toured the South Pacific region in February this year.
Other Pacific island nations who have been invited to the meeting are: Samoa, Palau, Nauru, Tuvalu, Fiji, Micronesia and Marshall Islands.
PM Leads Delegation to UAE
Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua will lead a government delegation to attend the Pacific Arab Summit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates towards the end of this month.
