Leader of the Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM), David Huange, made the statement at the opening of a three-day workshop in Honiara that is aimed at improving the skills and knowledge of rural pig farmers in the Solomon Islands
Mr. Huange said after visiting 80 pig farms in the Solomons, it is evident that there is need for pig farmers in Solomon Islands to improve on farming tools and surviving kits such as proper housing, feeding facilities, hygiene and more.
He informed participants that involving in pig projects will cost money.
"If you want a productive output, you need to build proper housing, fencing water supply, in order to have a productive results," he told farmers at the workshop.
Mr. Huange said that of the 80 pig projects visited, 40 have received pledge from the Taiwanese government to support them.
He told pig farmers that the help rendered now is just the beginning "because in our agenda this year, we will concentrate more on piggery project".
