Picking out of bins is to look for little things to sell for money to meet basic needs.
Speaking to a bottle collector, Allen told Solomon Times that going through the bins is purposely to collect empty cans and bottles to sell.
"For us, this is our daily income and we have to do it even though it is shameful at some point," he said.
He said that it is tiring moving from one bin to the next with a heavy load of bottles and cans but it's worth it all.
Observing the streets, it was noted that bottle collectors are both men and women, and even some very young children.
"We have heard a lot of people saying we should stop what we are doing and go back where we came from, but this is the only way we see money and we are happy," Allen said.
