The Diocesan Electoral Board of the Anglican Church of Melanesia elected the Reverend George Angus Takeli to be the next Bishop of the Diocese of Temotu.
The election of Reverend George Takeli has also been endorsed by the Council of Bishops yesterday at Tete Ni Kolivuti on Guadalcanal.
The Bishop-Elect the Reverend Takeli, 49 hails from Ulawa, Makira Ulawa Province.
He has a Diploma of Theology with Honours from Bishop Patteson Theological College in Solomon Islands, a Bachelor of Theology with honours from Pacific Theological College in Suva Fiji and a Masters of Theology with honours from Auckland University in New Zealand.
The Reverend Takeli is currently studying towards his Doctorate in Theology at the Pacific Theological College in Suva, Fiji.
The Bishop elect will be consecrated and installed as Bishop of Temotu in Lata, Temotu province, on 21st February 2010.
The Archbishop of Melanesia is asking all Church members to remember and support the Reverend Takeli as he prepares himself to take on the new responsibilities.
