Medical supply handed over yesterday to the Solomons health sector included tuberculosis (TB) and leprosy tablets and reproductive health products.
The country's liaison officer for W.H.O, Dr. William Adu-Krow said that research has indicated that cases of leprosy has grown rapidly in the Solomons.
"From the 28 leprosy cases recorded in 2005, 18 more were recorded this year so we figured that we need to give appropriate medical supplies so that it can be treated," Dr. Adu-Krow said.
Receiving on behalf of the government, Under Secretary for Health Improvement, Cedric Dalependava, said that the medical supplies donated will help fight against leprosy cases in the country.
Mr. Dalependava said that the dreadful disease has been an issue in the past that is "crawling back".
He mentioned that the areas most affected are the villages.
"The medical kit for the reproductive health division in the hospital will help improve services given by the midwives and nurses when delivery takes place," Mr. Dalependava.

The Ministry of Health received medical supplies from the World Health Organisation office in Honiara.
