Detectives from Honiara Central Station are investigating the suspicious death of a 26 year old man from Areatakiki village in north-east Guadalcanal.
The deceased has been in hospital since the 7th April after being found injured outside the Red Carpet shop near the underpass at the Central Market.
The relatives of the victim notified the police of the incident last Saturday night.
Detectives are now investigating the circumstances of the incident.
The Provincial Police Commander of Honiara, Superintendent Nathan Ratu, says this is a serious matter which the police will vigorously investigate.
Superintendent Ratu says the man was found in broad daylight early in the afternoon on 7 April 2007 in one of the city's busiest areas.
Police are appealing to anyone with information in relation to this incident is urged to contact them at Central Police Station.
