A bank officer became suspicious when figures and the written amount on the cheque were noticeably inconsistent. The bank officer stated that it appears that the value of the cheque had been altered from the original amount of four-thousand-700 to 14-thousand-700.
Police immediately attended to the bank when the incident was reported and took the man into custody. Police stated that upon inspection, it does appear that the figure may have been altered from the initial amount on the cheque before trying to cash it out from the bank.
The 27 year old man is currently being questioned by the police in relation to the allegation.

Honiara Central detectives are currently questioning a 27 year old man following an alleged forgery report from a commercial bank in Honiara.
