The hospital is located in the center of the Kirakira Station, capital of Makira, and it caters for patients from all over the province.
Besides being run down, the Provincial hospital is also currently experiencing a shortage of medical supplies, doctors and nurses for the hospital.
It was also reported that for sometime now, the Provincial hospital were not able to afford special diets for the patient in need of it.
The local hospital staff are now appealing to the Provincial Government and the National Government to assist them with much needed supplies so they may provide proper medical services to the Makira people.

The Makira Provincial Hospital is currently in need of greater assistance, as according to reports received by Solomon Times.
