This is according to Acting Commissioner of Police, Peter Marshall, who told local media that there has been less disturbance coming from nightclubs.

"The streets has been free from troubles coming out of nightclubs," he said.

The media was informed that there have been few reports of disorders on the streets that is directly linked to excessive alcohol "but none from within the nightclubs".

Mr. Marshall said that police will focus on small retail outlets who sell alcohol after hours.

He said that they will also look into having police officers on duty to give awareness talks on alcohol consumption around Honiara.

"I am very pleased with nightclubs for making proper use of their license and they should keep it up," Mr. Marshall said.

He said when public acts responsible, "it gives police less pressure on minor incidents and time to deal with more important issues".
