This comes after the Burns Creek Community leader had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The incident occurred on the 16th of August last year when Iromea attempted to attack a priest with a knife at the Saint Vincent Catholic Church at Burns Creek.

This was over the ownership on the land the Church was built on.

A one day trial was then conducted into the case on Tuesday last week.

According to evidence from the prosecution witnesses they all saw the defendant with the knife and all identified the defendant.

Delivering the ruling, Principal Magistrate Steve Wilson says the prosecution has proven the alleged offences beyond reasonable doubt.

However Mr Iromea was unconditionally released because of time he had spent in remand for the charges.
