The Police have revealed that the boy is between the age of three and four and had been reported missing by relatives at the end of last month.
Police said that they had launched a search for the boy at that time but had failed to locate him.
The Temotu Provincial Police Commander Alfred Uiga says the boy's body was found by relatives a week after he was reported missing.

Meanwhile, police in Lata say they are appealing to the public of Santa Cruz and the province to report any information they have in relation to child's death.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) in Lata, Temotu Province, have confirmed finding the body of a male child with his head missing in Nambalve Village, in Santa Cruz island.
