The Minister for Finance and Treasury, Gordon Darcy Lilo, made the announcement yesterday of the new Board of Directors for Solomon Airlines.
Other members of the new look Board are a former Governor of the Central Bank, Tony Hughes; the Deputy Chairman of the National Provident Fund who is also a Director on the Board of Home Finance, Austin Holmes; lawyer, Billy Titiulu and a former Chief Executive Officer of the Solomon Airlines Gideon Zoleveke Junior.
The Minister of Finance, Mr Lilo, stated on the SIBC that the appointment of the new board is testament of his commitment to getting the best outcome for the aviation industry in the Solomon Islands. Lilo also said that the new board shows his commitment in ensuring that State Owned Enterprises are commercially driven to ensure better performance. He says this shows the Government's commitment in advancing good governance in the management of state-owned enterprises.
Minister Lilo was elated at the caliber of the new board saying he was very proud that these new members accepted the appointment as they are trusted, high quality individuals, with a capacity to make an outstanding contribution.
Hou Heads New Solomon Airlines Board
The Chairman of the new Solomon Airlines Board is the Governor of the Central Bank, Rick Hou.
