This was after the Lamana Development Company was issued a fourteen days strike notice on the 6th of October.
Solomon Times caught up with few of the workers who stated that the strike was because the company had failed to provide certain allowances that was required for the type of work carried out by the employees.
According to the workers, they were promised the allowances but had not received it.
Mr. Tony Kagovai, General Secretary of the Solomon Islands National Union of Workers (SINUW) stated that the process towards the strike has been made legal through the issuance of the 14 day strike notice.
According to Mr. Kagovai, the strike will go on for an indefinite period.
Mr. Kagovai stated that the company had promised them such allowances since the beginning of their employment however this has never been met and "if the demands of workers are not met by the company, it may never be met because the construction of the Heritage Park Hotel is nearly complete."
Solomon Times understands that the Lamana Development Company is PNG based.
Heritage Park Hotel Workers Go on Strike
Yesterday the workers of the Heritage Park Hotel went on a strike just as the Hotel construction nears completion.
