The equipment were donated from the UNFPA at a hand over ceremony held at the SIPPA head office in Honiara.

The health equipment are for the rehabilitation project of SIPPA clinic in Gizo, and were last Thursday handed over to the Vice President of the SIPPA board, Modi Nanau by the UNFPA Representative and Director for the UNFPA PACIFIC Sub-regional officer, Mr. Assifi.

Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Nanau acknowledged the UNFPA on behalf of the whole SIPPA Board.

Mrs. Nanau said that what they have done for them demonstrates the UNFPA's commitment to see high quality and improved health services accessible from SIPPA to the people of Solomon Islands.

She stated that the UNFPA had been recognizing the work of SIPPA not only in emergency situation "but through the services we offer to the people of Solomon Islands".

"I am sure of choosing SIPPA to be a partner in this project was no mistake and was a recognition of SIPPA as an institution with credibility and its worthwhile contribution to the development of this country," said Mrs. Nanau.

She also said that SIPPA will continue to strive for excellence and quality and be able to be a model to other service providers in the health sector.

Apart from the ups and downs that SIPPA faces, Mrs. Nanau said that they will continue to work together and commit themselves to the tasks, "to tackle these challenges head on."

Mrs. Nanau said that they are very happy to work in partnership with UNFPA and hope to ensure that the equipments given towards will benefit the people in Gizo and the surrounding communities.
