The National Government has accepted the nomination of Timothy Smart as the next British High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands.
Mr. Timothy Smart will take up his appointment and begin his duties in December 2008.
Mr Smart is a member of the British Diplomatic Service and has until recently been the Deputy Head of the Public Diplomacy Division in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, FCO, in London.
He was previously the Press Secretary to the Permanent Under Secretary at the FCO and has served abroad in the British Missions in Basra, Iraq and Tel Aviv, Israel.

Current British High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands, H.E Richard Lyne will be leaving the Solomon Islands after the completion of his duties in November 2008.
