Representative of the Ministry, Luke Memua said that the task was delegated to the Honiara City Council "because they are responsible for the welfare of the city".
Mr. Memua in handing over the task to HCC Youth Division stressed on the importance to labor for the benefit of the younger generation.
"We should be working together to help our youths and our country as a whole instead of competing with each other," he said.
In response, Mary Jione of the HCC youth division said that it is a privilege for them to organize the International Youth Day.
Ms. Jione urged stakeholders to support the initiative in reaching out to the young people of the country.
HCC Youth Division to Organise Youth Day
The Ministry of Women Youth and Children Affairs today officially handed over the International Youth Day celebrations for this year 2008 to the Honiara City Council youth division.
