The Electoral office says the planned media conference is in anticipation of the Governor General's formal proclamation of the election date being formalized today.
It is understood that if the election is to be held on August 4th as earlier announced by Caretaker Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua, the formal proclamation will have to be gazetted today.
Chairman of Electoral Commission Sir Peter Kenilorea and Chief Electoral Officer Polycarp Haununu are expected to host the media conference this afternoon, as soon as the Governor General's proclamation has been gazetted.
