Fisheries and Marine Resources Minister Jimmy Lusibaea has thanked donor partners who helped in building the fisheries sector for Solomon Islanders to enjoy the sustainable use of their resources.

Those partners include the governments of New Zealand, Japan, the Republic of China, Korea, Australia and the European Union

Mr Lusibaea also thanked the Forum fisheries Agencies, FFA, the South Pacific Commission and the World Fish Centre for providing technical assistance to his Ministry.

He said FFA is providing both financial and advisory support to the Ministry's onshore tuna investment program.

Mr Lusibaea also thanked other marine-based NGOs including The Nature Conservancy, Foundation of the Peoples of the Pacific Islands and World Wildlife for Nature and the industry for their contribution to the development of the fisheries sector.

He said a delegation led by his Ministry is pursuing an Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported fishing case against China.

Minister Lusibaea said the responsibilities and obligations of his Ministry are great and the Ministry alone cannot carry.

He said this is a great undertaking and would not have been possible without the cooperation amongst the various government Ministries and other institutions.
