Billy Toito'ona was stabbed to death at Kaibia Heights in Honiara last weekend, allegedly by two individuals within the area.
An uncle of the late Billy Toito'ona demanded the compensation during a customary reconciliation ceremony held at the Honiara Central Police Station yesterday afternoon.
During the ceremony, relatives of the murder suspects presented three traditional shell money from Malaita to the relatives of the deceased, Toito'ona.
Relatives of both the victim and suspects have then agreed on a two-week deadline to come up with the SBD$200,000 compensation.
Relatives of the victim say the compensation demanded will go to the wife and children of the late Toito'ona and part of it will be used to settle other customary matters related to the issue.
The late Toito'ona is survived by two children and a pregnant wife.
He was buried yesterday in his home village in Malaita province.
