The Ward was left vacant after the death of its former provincial member late Aquila Talasasa in June this year.
Jonathan Bana the returning officer for ward 16 has given notice that the election will be held on the 12th of October 2012.
He says that one of the contesting candidates is the son of former provincial member Ramrakha Talasasa Junior.
The others are Loti Gasimata, Denis Mamu, John Havea Lianga, Hockory Kalisi Bea, Nimily Wickham and Nicely Zongahite.
The latest by election held recently this year in Western Province was for Ward 22 Nono, Marovo, after the death of the former member. Mr. John Sogavare is now the new member for the ward.
The Dunde/Nusa Roviana bye-election would be the fourth held under George Solingi Lilo's government since he came into power in 2009.
