Just last weekend, Police arrested and charged a woman for dangerous driving.
Witness accounts state that the woman was driving recklessly along the Poha Bridge through the Kakabona main road, with six of her friends crammed inside a Rav-4 motor vehicle.
Following reports of the motor vehicles whereabouts, Police intercepted the motor vehicle along the Kakabona road and arrested the driver who was said to be intoxicated and slightly disoriented when questioned.
The accused is on bail after she was charged with dangerous driving, and is due to appear in the Honiara Magistrate Court on 16th August 2011.
Police are appealing to the public to consider having a designated driver. "This is for the safety of others, and also for oneself."
Drink Driving Cases Soars
Police are concerned with the number of drink drivers caught on the roads of Honiara, particularly over the weekends.
