The National Disaster Council organized the six months training, which started 6th of August under joint funding by the government and AusAID, a total of SBD$1.1 million dollars.
NCD Senior Programs Officer, Julian Maka'a, said the training is very exciting as it is the first of its kind in the region.
He said that the training would be more on disaster management, and officers will go out to communities to conduct disaster awareness programs and go on provincial engagements.
Mr. Maka'a said the program is important because communities in the provinces would now be more knowledgeable in times of natural disasters.
Regional counterparts from Fiji and Papua New Guinea, and participating officers, are happy with the success so far with the training, and hope for positive results at the end of the course.
