One of the St John sisters reported the matter to Police after finding the dead infant in a coffee bottle around the Town Ground site early on Saturday morning.
Investigators are now looking for the woman, checking with medical facilities around Honiara to see if she sought help.
Police say they have concerns that the mother may be in dire straights and needs immediate medical attention. As three days have passed since the birth, the mother may be susceptible to infection of she does not seek medical attention.
Anyone with information about the Baby are advised to contact the closest police post.
