Police allege Mr Ali abused his position by making false representations about a logging licence relating to Vula customary land in Western province.
This resulted in financial benefits for Mr Ali and a friend called Mr Kuong.
Mr Ali is said to have committed the offences between January and November 2005 when he was the acting Commissioner of Forest.
He faces one count of official corruption, one count of abuse of office and two counts of false pretences.
The presiding Magistrate Jefferson Leua says the trial of Mr Ali concluded around October last year.
He says Mr Ali is at his home village but is expected to arrive in Honiara by Friday for the court decision.

The Magistrates Court in Honiara will hand down its decision, Friday this week on former acting Commissioner of Forest Mahlon Ali who faces charges of official corruption, abuse of office and false pretences.
